Congratulations to all 2009 Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Award winners!

The 9th Annual Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Awards was held on January 10th, 2010 at the P.C. Ho Theatre of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. Over 150 guests joined us to recognize and celebrate the achievements of outstanding and talented youth in the award categories of Performance Arts, Visual Arts, Athletics, and Leadership and Community Service, and the distinguished Youth of the Year.

With the Year of the Tiger approaching, the Awards started off with a lively lion dance performance by Christian Wushu Fellowship. The Awards were presented among violin, guitar and saxophone performances by our Performance Arts winners, as well as a beautiful vocal performance by our past winner Shulammite Chow. The Reception hall also showcased the creative and beautiful artwork of the Visual Arts winners, and a display of the accomplishments of our Youth of the Year.

One special segment was dedicated to the woman who made it all possible; CCCYC advisors Pauline Chong and Kelvin Choi presented the tribute to Mrs. Yvonne Chiu, the founder of the Achievement Awards and a role model for Chinese Canadians. The keynote presentation presented by CCCYC this year was based on the topic she addressed in the Youth Conference, "Are you Chinese? Are you Canadian?" With the participation of the audience, we hope to have delivered the message that not only we take pride in the identity of both, but we should also strive in the contribution to the Canadian community at large.

We are grateful that the 2009 Youth Achievement Awards was a huge success. It was only possible with the support of our sponsors, CCC Directors, supporters and countless volunteers who all helped bring this event together.
