2007 Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Awards
Congratulations to all 2007 Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Award Winners!
The 2007 Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Awards was held on January 12th, 2008 at the P.C. Ho Theatre of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. Approximately 200 guests joined us that day to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our talented youth in the categories of Performance Arts, Visual Arts, Athletics, and Leadership and Community Service.
At the Awards ceremony, we show cased our Visual Art award winners' work in the Reception Hall, and kicked started the event with a Lion Dance. In addition to the presentation of awards, we had 2 piano performances, a gu zheng performance, as well as hip hop dance from our Performance Art award winners.
Our guest speaker, Sister Evanne Hunter, IBVM, who is a representative of NGO at the United Nations spoke on youth and women's issues. Last but not least, we awarded the Youth of the Year Award to Patrick Chan, a rising star in figure skating. Patrick has recently won the Trophee Eric Bompard in Paris and the Canadian Men's figure skating championship and his goal is to represent Canada in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic games.
We are grateful that the 2007 Awards was a huge success, and we'd like to extend our thanks to our sponsors, CCCYC executives and all those who helped make this event happen.
