With
over ten years of history, CCCYC has organized and partnered with many
events in the community, promoting Chinese Canadian culture. What’s
more is that we are always striving to give back and promote
volunteerism in the community.

Events
Second Resume/Career Workshop (July 2011)
On
July 9, 2011, we hosted our second Careers and Resume workshop. The
afternoon began with an introduction on CCCYC, then followed by
workshops on: resume writing, job search, cover letter writing, and
interviews. They were presented by Pauline Chong, Kelvin Choi, and Lena
Song, respectively. It was not only a time of learning, but it was also
a time to network, to be involved in discussions, and to have fun!

post for the full recap and pictures!
Take the
Lead to Feed the Need (March - August 2009)
This
was a youth initiative that was a response to the economic crisis in
recent times. CCCYC partnered up with CCC and all proceeds went to the
Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank. There was an awareness campaign,
kick-off ceremony, food drive, food sorting at the Daily Bread
facilities, and finished off with a BBQ. The initiative raised over
$10,000 and 600 lbs of food. This was a big success in helping out the
community.
Job Search
Initiative - Resume Workshop (July 2009)
CCCYC
organized a resume workshop to help youth prepare for their job search.
Youth attending the workshop received pointers on wiring a resume from
a presentation and peer reviews were done to look over each attendees
resumes. A recruiter was also present to provide professional advice on
job-hunting.
High School
Volunteer Fair (2004-2006)
The
High School Volunteer Fair was initiated to help all high school
students in the GTA to attain their mandatory volunteer hours as well
as exposure to the many types of volunteer opportunities and
organizations out there. In the past, volunteer organizations such as
United Way of Greater Toronto, Toronto Public Library, Heart &
Stroke Foundation and more have attended the fair. We continue to work
with organizations by providing volunteer opportunities with our
members.
Chinese
Canadian Youth Conference (2000-2005)
The
Chinese Canadian Youth Conference has held workshops and forums on
youth topics ranging from careers to youth violence to identity - Are
you Chinese? Are you Canadian? The most recent conference focused on
transitioning from secondary to post-secondary education. Speakers were
brought in to discuss about academic transition, social transition, and
wellness (physical & mental).

Community
Events with CCCYC Participation
Famine and
the Blessing (September 2011)
To
help raise money for the starving families in Africa, UNICEF organized
The Famine and the Blessing, a 24-hour fast in which the CCC has
participated in from Thursday, September 15th at 8 p.m. To mark the end
of the fast and the worthy cause of the funds will go towards, a
celebration party was held at the CCC on Friday, September 16th.
Filled
with a wonderful steel drum performance, along with many captivating
dance performances, and even a motivational speech from Mr. Corey
Atkinson, the evening was a perfect way to end off the celebration of
the amazing efforts of all who got involved with the Famine and the
Blessing event.
Celebrate
Canada's Day with CCC (July 2011)
CCCYC
